Newly Diagnosed? Get Started Here:
I just thought "I have tics and there's nothing I can do about them." I had never heard of CBIT. After just six sessions, I am so much more in control of my tics and realize I DO have options! I am so grateful this treatment protocol exists." -TS, age 34
Jillian Diesner, LPC
What is CBIT?
Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT) is a systematic, non-drug treatment that is highly effective in reducing and managing tics. It consists of three parts:
Training the patient to be more aware of tics,
Training patients to do competing behaviors when they feel the urge to tic.
Making changes to day to day activities in ways that can be helpful in reducing tics.

How much does CBIT cost?
CBIT typically is structured as eight sessions of about one hour each, provided over ten weeks. This time can be shorter or longer, depending on the patient's needs. Research has shown that telehealth and group CBIT modalities can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many people.
Submit a request for a free consultation below. You are under no obligation to begin CBIT therapy, and Jillian will help you determine the next best steps for your particular concerns.
Children, teens, and adults with tic disorders can all benefit from CBIT. Research studies have shown that CBIT is about as effective as medications, without the risk of adverse side effects. And, six months after treatment ends most patients report continued benefits.
Yes, Jillian is trained in CBIT and approved by the Tourette's Association of America. You can find her TAA profile here. Because tic disorders are often co-existing with other issues such as ADHD, anxiety, OCD or depression, Jillian is also trained in the treatment of these disorders. You can read more about her experience and approach here.

How to start?
CBIT therapy is covered at least in part by most insurance providers. Jillian is an in-network provider for CareFirst insurance and out-of-network for most others. In these cases patients pay for the sessions and submit a receipt to their insurance for reimbursement. Individual sessions are $200, and the average course of treatment is 8 sessions. Jillian reserves a limited number of reduced-fee slots for those with demonstrated financial need (there is often a waiting list for these spots.)
